Awesome racing started in the spring of 2003 being my rookie year and it was a limited amount of races as my work schedule had me traveling and unable to run a full season.
In 2004 I was able to run the full season in the 4 cycle stock class and was hooked from that point on. As a new-comer to kart racing with a limited budget 4 cycle was the least expensive of 2 or 4 cycle class and was a smaller class at our club. This would give me time to learn what is needed to be competitive in this sport and if I had what it takes. As I was soon to learn this is not like running a Go-Cart around some amusement park to see who is the fastest. It takes some skill to be a good driver and experience to be a great driver. But what I found was all the resources needed were there from the great members at ASK and that is all you have to do is ASK. I finished the season in 3rd place Stock light 4 cycles.
In 2005 I purchased a new kart and passed down my old kart to my 9-year-old son and set it up for the Jr.1 4 cycle class, what a thrill to see your child out there on the race track. Knowing that ASK & IKF safety standards were followed to a tee with no compromise helped to reassure me of his safety in what can be a dangers sport if not regulated properly. As my interest grew in this new found hobby so did my need for more space to work on our karts and a shop was built to give the garage back to my wife for a car (haha) .
2005 continued to be a very challenging year with running a 2-kart team and the addition of a new kart club from
It was a close season all year in my class with only 8 points separating 1st 2nd and 3rd.
I finished the year in 2nd place IKF and 1st as Season Champion ASK 4cycle stock.
As for my Son we are still looking for that first Win!! Maybe this year, as he is already saying “Lets go racing” We are looking forward to the 2006 season and will see you all at the track.
